Remember: In order to be legally binding, your resignation must be handwritten and bear your signature. Furthermore, the name and address of the employer, as well as the date of your resignation, must be included in your letter. It's also important to indicate a concrete date when the resignation should be effective.
Do address it to your manager You don't need to address your resignation letter to the owner or CEO addressing it to your line manager is fine as this is the person who will receive the letter and initiate your leaving process. Keep it formal by addressing it to Dear, even if you're on close terms.
When you leave your job, you may need to claim benefits until you find work again. You are likely to be penalized by the loss of benefits for around three months if you left your last job voluntarily, unless you can show that you did so for good reason. This is called a sanction.
There are some situations in which an employee can leave their job without giving any notice but simply wanting to take up a new position elsewhere isn't one of them. Leaving without giving due notice will put you in breach of contract. You can't, for example, be forced back to work out your notice.

Speak to Your Employer First. If possible, tell your boss in person that you will be leaving the company. State The Date. In the letter, include the date you plan to leave the company. Don't Go into Details.
Start by including your name, date, address and subject line. State your resignation. Include the date of your last day. Provide a brief reason of resignation (optional) Add a statement of gratitude. Wrap up with next steps. Close with your signature.
Keep it professional. Keep it short and sweet. Provide reasons for leaving (optional). Remain polite. Say thank you to your employer for the role. Offer to help in the transition period. Avoid personal criticism. Finish your resignation letter positively.
Hand in your notice at the start of the day. Share what makes your new role different and slightly more suitable. Don't accept counter offers. Confirm your intention to leave in writing, so it won't delay your leave date.
