Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
I've always liked to think of it as a version is just an iterative change, whereas a revision is generally more of a formalized change. As you said, one major product release to another usually involves a revision of the documents which apply to it.
Revision. “Revision” is the most widely-used term for referring to that attribute which distinguishes one closely-related design variation from another. A revision represents a change to a document's contents, or a modification to a part such that the part remains interchangeable with its previous variation.
A new revision of a document contains minor changes, usually only corrections. A new version of a document has major changes, which may include additions and reorganization of the contents. What is the difference between version, variant, and revision?
Revision number A revision number is a small integer. It is a strictly local convenience identifier for a revision. It can be useful as it is shorter to type than the 40-digit hexadecimal string that uniquely identifies a revision.
The control and revision of documents is one area where establishing good procedure between participants can really help a project. Areas to focus on include the numbering, revision and status of documents, the control of transmittal, and the maintenance of a document issue register.
Team center — What is the difference between Item & Item revision in Team center ? Items are structures that are generally used to represent a product, part or component. Items can contain other data objects including other items and folders. Item revisions are data objects used to manage revisions to items.
Normally Release is more about the “action” to distribute the software to interested candidates, while “version” is an identifier of certain snapshot of the software (mostly a meaningful snapshot).
Noun. Release version (plural release versions) A version of a program or application that is ready to be released into the public, possibly after some last-minute changes. This status comes after release candidate, and is the last status given to the program.
What is the difference between build and release? A build is given by dev team to the test team. A release is formal release of the product to its customers. A build when tested and certified by the test team is given to the customers as release.
Edition is more limited. Use it when talking specifically about material that is published either in print or on digital media, such as radio, television, or the internet. ... 1) It can mean a particular version of a book or other media product, as in these sentences: I am looking for a hardcover edition.
