Can I use an international phone in the US?
Just like in the United States, your device must be unlocked by your carrier or manufacturer before switching to a new cell phone provider. Most international phones run off GSM technology. In the U.S., we have carriers that run off both GSM and CDMA, so your international phone should work on at least one network.
What does international version cell phone mean?
Different countries use different radio frequencies for different cellphone functions. International Version usually means that it has all the frequencies used by all countries. (Unlocked means you can use any carrier's SIM card.)
Do international cell phones work in the US?

What is the difference between international and US version cell phones?
Most of the phones bought in the US are locked to particular carrier. There is also an unlocked version for the USA that was released in July. Unlocked versions should be able to activated on any carrier. The international version doesn't quite support all the bands that US carriers use, but almost all of them.
What does US version mean?
If a device is known as an International version, it means that that device can be used on any carrier around the world. If the device is known as a U.S. version, then it is only used with carriers from the U.S.
Is my phone unlocked internationally?
Locked phones can roam onto international networks, but without the proper service plan from your carrier, the charges for international roaming can be hefty. Unlocked devices are free to use other networks around the world. Most carriers will also have instructions for changing out SIM cards from your phone model.
What phones can be used internationally?
The most common cellular technology is GSM, and it's widely used throughout much of the world. CDMA is less common, but it is used by Verizon and Sprint in the United States, and a few carriers elsewhere if your phone only supports CDMA, it's highly unlikely to work internationally.
