To rename a field in a table in Access, open the table containing the field to rename in design view. Click into the Field Name column of the field that you want to rename and type a new name. Click the Save button in the Quick Access toolbar to save your structural modifications.
In the Navigation Pane, locate and double-click the table that you want to change. Access opens the table in Data sheet view. Select the field (the column) that you want to change. On the Fields tab, in the Properties group, click the arrow in the drop-down list next to Data Type, and then select a data type.
To resize multiple columns at the same time, hold down the SHIFT key, select multiple adjacent columns, and then resize the selected columns. You can also select the entire data sheet and resize all the columns.
