Who uses the Form C1?
A British citizen, British Overseas Territories citizen, British Overseas citizen, British subject or British protected person aged 16 or over, who applies for a United Kingdom passport abroad has to use the Form C1.
What is the purpose of the Form C1?
The Form C1 is an application for a United Kingdom passport.
When should I submit the Form C1?
The applicant should submit the Form C1 at least four weeks before he needs the passport, and at least six weeks if the applicant has not previously held a British passport.
What information should be provided?
The form consists of the following sections.
Section 1a. (The applicant provides his personal data including the name, age, address, telephone number, email address, etc.);
Section 1b. (The applicant should answer whether he belongs to any of the categories mentioned in the first paragraph);
Section 2. (The applicant has to answer the questions whether he was born in the UK after 31 December 1982 and whether he was born outside the UK or qualifying territory. The applicant further provides information about his parents.);
Sections 3a and 3b apply to women. The applicant should provide information about her husband if she claims British nationality through marriage to a British man.
Sections 4 and 5 should be filled with information about the applicant’s previous passports.
Section 6. The applicant should give names of two relatives or friends who could be contacted if the applicant meets an accident.
Section 7 Other Information.
Section 8 Undertakings. The applicant signs this section.
Section 9 Countersignature. This section must be completed by the countersignatory.
Where do I send the Form C1?
The applicant submits the Form C1 to the UK Visa Application Center or other British consular section.
