Instructions and Help about ch ge ai 01b
HI, thanks again for watching OneMinuteDigital.com. Today I'm going to show you how to make all different kinds of star shapes using the Star Tool in Illustrator. I've made a few tutorials like this before, but Do get asked quite often, “how do I change that default Star shape from the cute, chubby little star we get to maybe a longer armed star, or a pointy seal or a six-pointed star or a starburst, something like that. And it's very easy to do using just 1 tool and a few key commands. So, what I’m going to do to show you is I'm going to add a new dartboard here so Can keep these open, and we’re just going to copy and make all of these shapes right here on the second dartboard. OK, so your Star Tool by default gives you a nice kind of cute chubby little star there. If you click and drag that's what you get. When you hold down Shift and click and drag you get a star that is standing upright. If you don't hold down Shift and you click and drag, you can kind of, you can't maybe make it stand up straight you get one that's going sideways. But if you hold down Shift. Click and drag it's always standing upright. Okay, so there's our first star, and now we want to make this one which is even chubbier. This cute little chubby star. Now we're going to hold down Shift, click and drag and while we're holding down Shift and not letting go of our mouse, we're going to click on Command and keep pulling. You can see it changes shape here, we're going to go in a little and see how it got even chubbier and there we go, I'm going to hold down Shift and pull out that bounding box to make it the right size and there we go. Now we're going to make this a little leaner star with longer points to it. With your Star Tool selected, hold down Shift, click and drag, and — not letting go of Shift and not letting go of your Mouse — hold down Command and keep pulling until those top, or those right and left arms of the star get to be even. There we go, now we have a nice long and lean star right there. And now we're going to make this sort of starfish shape. And again, select your Star Tool, hold down Shift, click and drag, and when you get to about here, hold down Command and just keep going. And you see those arms get longer and longer and longer, they get very, very long, and we want to make it about there. And we're going to make that smaller to fit here in line with everything else. There we go. Make a 6-pointed star with your star tool selected — now, what you have to do first is... All of these are 5 pointed stars. We want to change this to a 6 pointed star, so click anywhere on your dartboard, just click. It brings up a box here. Change the number of points to 6. Say OK, and it, by default it gives you what you just made but with an extra point to it, so delete that. Holding down Shift, click and drag, and — not letting go of Shift, and not letting go of your mouse — hold down Command and go in again. And you can see that changes, and wait til your top 2 pointy...
