Instructions and Help about TX H1200

Hi this is Tony with stuff seniors need calm, and I am coming to you today with an extremely important video for anyone who is a caregiver uh and that is sooner or later you're going to have to be applying for Medicaid, and I am going to take you through the process not, not only not, not just giving you pretty much standard government statistics, but I went through this myself, so I'm going to be telling you my own personal perspective my own experiences I am going to be explaining to you giving you tips the things that I wish I had done not only during the process but the things I had wish I had done before the process started, so I'm going to be taking you through that, and I really hope that this helps some people out there first though I want to explain to you what exactly Medicare Medicaid is and Medicaid it is a joint program which is administered by both the US government and the state and the state government and these designs provide a social safety net for the poor um the big problem that we will be dealing with is getting the approval from the government for someone to actually be approved for Medicaid and like I said as I go through this process I'm going to be explaining from a personal perspective so the first thing you're going to need to do is get a hold of an application now you can either do that through the Department of Social Services or you can go to the social worker suite at the hospital that's actually what I did after my mother's heart attack and I realized that you know her medical needs were beyond the capacity of my brother and I to take care of her we needed to get her somewhere where she could be protected and that was you know in a nursing home so in addition to looking for a quality nursing home we needed to get her on to Medicaid when I looked at the application simply put what the government is going to want they do a five-year look-back period, and they are going to ask for every conceivable piece of information regarding a person's financial past I understand why the government does this okay they don't want a case where millionaires are hiding money with their children, and then they wind up paying the bill for the nursing home but still it is a daunting task, and you can see that is the actual pile of paperwork arm that was needed and there are no copies of copies in there by the way that is actually just mom's basic paperwork that is needed so get ready for the disruptions in your life okay like I said this is going to be explained with a lot of personal experiences um one thing to understand is that because Medicaid is also administered on the state level as I'm going through the information required in your area may be a little different okay, but I'm pretty sure that the list that I go through is going to be very similar to the one that you're going to be experiencing yourself one thing I would really would like to stress I wish I had gotten some of this information before the heart attack and I cannot...
