A: Filing an Affidavit of Affixture will allow you to continue to receive one Tax Bill and Notice of Value for both your land and manufactured home. Many property owners prefer to have one account for property tax purposes.
Upon receipt, processing time is 7 to 10 business days. Application will be returned if not complete. The ORIGINAL Certificate of Title or Certificate of Origin must accompany this application (for new applications only). The owner(s) on the Affidavit of Affixture must match the owner(s) on the title/origin.
Visit your local county clerk's office or the Michigan Secretary of State's office to submit the paperwork. Along with the Michigan Mobile Home Transfer Form, you may also need to submit the bill of sale or transfer document, identification documents, and any other supporting paperwork.
The Property Transfer Affidavit must be filed by the new owner within 45 days of the date transfer. If it is not filed in a timely manner, a fine of $5 per day (maximum $200) could apply.
