A later addition to the bill expanded the provision to include grocery stores, convenience markets, private clubs and any other place licensed to sell alcohol.
Ready-to-drink cocktails are on the market in retail stores. The new law allows bartenders to mix an alcoholic beverage, pour it into a container, seal it and sell it to a customer to take out of the establishment.

The NC General Statutes, written by the General Assembly, includes §18B-1010 that not more than two alcoholic beverage drinks at one time are permitted if the alcoholic beverage is a malt beverage, unfortified wine or fortified wine.
Alcohol products can only be sold or served Monday – Saturday between 7 a.m. and 2 a.m. On Sundays, alcohol can only be sold, served, and consumed after 12:00 pm. However, some local ordinances (cities and/or counties) allow Sunday sales to begin at 10:00 am.
Any restaurant that is open and serving alcohol should have an open kitchen. Food from the restaurant must be available at all times that alcoholic beverages are being served. Please see 14B NCAC 15B . 0105 (SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR RESTAURANTS) for more information.
