Furthermore, I knew the lawsuit was going to be bad news for our states and our citizens, but I never thought it would be this bad. We have been working really hard on a plan for a while now to make up the lack in electricity in our electric grids. This lawsuit has completely undermined that plan. That is our fault. Now we will wait, with no plan to make up for the lost generation, while we are told by regulators to make up for the lost generation. So far we have had to replace generators 4 times in the state, in 4 months, and they are getting expensive. So far the plan we have developed is working, but we do not have any plans to use any more generators. Because we cannot use any more generators because of the lawsuit, our backup generation plan is now off the table because the state now does not require any backup generators. The American people know the problems with electricity in South Carolina can be solved. We now have to wait for the American people to come up with a plan to deal with the problem. So far the plan being suggested in the lawsuit by the SPEC is a radical plan that we did not adopt here in South Carolina, which would actually make things worse. We have had to have an additional 250 megawatts of backup capacity built to protect ourselves from what we feared would be the worst possible storm that South Carolina would ever see. Now we have to wait again, and the American people have got to come up with a plan to protect ourselves from what could be the worst possible emergency. To make up for the loss of generation, the SPEC is requiring us to use a different type of generator, a different type of gas generator and different frequency of electricity that South Carolinians do not have access to. We have always been able to buy electricity on an hourly basis from the grid. This lawsuit is completely destroying that policy.
