Grade Forgiveness Policy The original grade remains on the transcript. However, the student's GPA will be refreshed using points earned by the new grade, regardless if the new grade is higher or lower than the original.
What is Grade Forgiveness? When you earn a better grade the second or third time, you may be eligible for Grade Forgiveness, which allows you to replace the previous grade with the new one. This means that the old grade will be taken out of your GPA, however all attempts will still appear on your transcript.
You can only apply grade forgiveness to up to three (3) courses during your undergraduate career. Be strategic about which courses you petition for grade forgiveness. Once a grade forgiveness petition is approved and you earn a final grade in the second attempt, you cannot cancel your petition.
Grade Forgiveness Policy. Undergraduate students are subject to the following conditions and requirements. Students who receive a grade of C– or lower (grades of C-, D+, D, D-, F, and WF) may repeat up to five courses to improve the overall grade point average. Only the first five repeated courses will be forgiven.
The Grade Forgiveness rule allows undergraduate students who repeat a course to request for the grade and earned credit hours from the second enrollment to premanently replace the grade and hours from the first attempt in the student's OSU GPA and earned hours calculations.
Academic Forgiveness is applied by excluding the GPA hours for credit hours which an F was earned. The Fs still will appear on the transcript, however, forgiven Fs will have an “E” notation and the hours will no longer appear in the GPA hours and will not be used in the calculation of the GPA.
