[Music] some primary career motivators for pursuing an MSF obviously would be to boost your academic and professional development to make yourself more competitive in the job market another reason might be if a student is too late to a finance career path in their undergrad to be successful in the job search, so they missed a recruiting cycle, or they majored in something totally different from finance the MSF gives them a bridge over into finance and I think lastly a great reason for an MSF is to give you a new platform for recruiting in an extra recruiting cycle an MSF degree is right for students that may be interested in careers in corporate finance investment banking cell side or by side research real estate investment and development financial advisory and consulting and even management consulting so a wide variety of career paths now obviously some programs place more into some career tracks and functions and industries than others which is a good reason to ask them about their employment outcomes so one of the biggest job search challenges facing MSF candidates is the early recruitment cycle and that's something that I wouldn't want to know a lot about before applying to a program because a lot of the recruitment process and the relationships that you need to build may very well happen either before you get to campus or within the first month or two I think the age of an MSF program has a big impact on their ability to help you secure employment simply because a lot of the employer channels that you need to build strong on-campus recruiting take time, and they take a loyal and experienced alumni base advocating for your school inside their organizations, so again I would look I would look at how long the program has been around where their alums are, and honestly I would reach out to alums at companies of interest and ask them about their experience during the program import a question for prospective students to ask various programs that they're considering is this how did students land the jobs that they landed I mean how much assistance did they get and the way that I think about this is I kind of break it down into two big buckets student facilitated jobs, so these are our students that were able to secure jobs and conducting an independent job search on their own and then school facilitated jobs so on-campus recruiting career fairs center it's really important in my mind to have a healthy balance of those because on one hand you want established employer relationships and that gives you unprecedented access, but you also need a program that's preparing you to conduct a job search over and over throughout your career not just helping you get this one job of after graduating
