MATH 1010 is a three-credit college algebra course that is designed to provide students with the quantitative skills necessary to model and analyze real-world problems.
It is mainly divided into 3 branches for high schoolers: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. If you follow the standard high school curriculum of the USA, you are required to take Algebra 1 in 9th grade, Geometry in 10th grade, Algebra 2 in 11th grade, and Pre-calculus in 12th grade.
(Formerly called Algebra 3) Algebraic subjects covered include advanced quadratics, polynomials, conics, general functions, logarithms, clever factorizations and substitutions, systems of equations, sequences and series, symmetric sums, advanced factoring methods, classical inequalities, functional equations, and more.
Intermediate Algebra builds on basic algebra, covering more complex equations and functions. You'll tackle quadratic equations, rational expressions, and systems of equations. The course also introduces you to exponential and logarithmic functions, as well as conic sections.
Course Description: This course satisfies the True Blue Core Quantitative Literacy requirement and is also part of the mathematics sequence for students preparing to become elementary school teachers. Topics include logic, sets, algebraic reasoning, probability, statistics, and consumer mathematics.
Description: Intermediate Algebra students will study properties of the real number system including the use of set and/or interval notation and performing operations on real numbers. Students will continue the use of variables and the simplifying and evaluating of algebraic expressions.
What Math Should an 11th Grader Know? Typically, students in grade 11 take Algebra II (if they followed the traditional course sequence: Algebra I in 9th grade, and Geometry in 10th grade). However, some students may be able to take Algebra I while still in 8th grade.
