1.1 Students are expected to engage in ongoing leadership and mentoring activities, including assisting other students in developing personal projects. The program is a year-long program and candidates must complete it within 24 months, unless extended by the dean or committee on graduate studies. Students must enroll in the course(s) offered during the elective year or the student project course. All students who submit a completed application to the Program, except for those who are unable to complete the program, be granted a continuing education waiver. Students who submit this request before their graduate school year starts will not be eligible to apply for tuition remission. Candidates must obtain the approval of the instructor(s) to submit a request for continued education. Continuing education authorization and requirements are located in course outline. NOTE: A student must graduate in order to receive continued education and must meet the continuing education and program eligibility requirements. Students who request continuation education within six months of graduation will be allowed to apply for tuition waivers, provided that they meet the continuing education and program eligibility requirements and the application does not exceed two pages in length. Students who request continuation education before their graduate school year starts, however, will not be eligible to apply for tuition remission. The committee on graduate studies may review requests and make exceptions on a case-by-case basis if they have evidence that a student has been unable to complete the graduate program or has abandoned the plan, or the program has been discontinued for legitimate reasons.
