Submit the proposal to the departmental Office of Graduate Programs in late April. For all other programs, the departmental deadline is the first business day of the fall and spring semesters. If accepted into the program, the student must register with a faculty member in the department who will be responsible for coordinating his/her participation and the academic career of the student.
A minimum of two (2) semesters of graduate work has been completed (including a graduate thesis) before the student moves on to the application process. For students with less than four (4) semesters completed, the deadline is the previous June 1.
Graduate students must be US citizens and permanent resident aliens.

Applicants must have an overall average of at least three (3) GPA points on an undergraduate transcript.
The Department of Anthropology will not approve a dissertation for which the student is not first-time author and the thesis topic is not related to the student's specialization in anthropology. The dissertation should clearly demonstrate that the student is capable of completing the dissertation and publishing in the field and/or the subdiscipline of the student's training and experience with a minimum 3-year coursework. For additional information and a list of required courses, see Guidelines for Duties and Responsibilities. Students in the Master of Arts in Anthropology program must be at least a junior in the degree program or first-year graduate student.
In the interests of equity, all funding for graduate students must be awarded in a manner that provides equal access and opportunities for all students enrolled in the Program.
