Instructions and Help about acg commissioning guideline

My name is Jason Chavez I'm with the International Code Council I'm in the technical services department my job five days a week sometimes six days a week depending on how many emails I have is to answer questions about the code I answer questions from the 2000 code to the 2018 soon to be the 2021 code I spend most of my time in the energy code and mechanical code because I'm a mechanical by training and so I spend most of my time there, but I do spend other times time in other codes also the green construction code now this there's a purpose of this cut this presentation is to let you all have an overview of the codes and standards where they were where they involve commissioning now let me preface this with the fact that most of you do work beyond the code correct by show of hands when you do commissioning is it typically beyond the code right you all are aware that you can't say that this is code required unless well you can, it happens all the time I get calls from people who say this is a code required commissioning then they call me when the owner objects and I said no the owners right, so we're only talking about the code required typically you are involved in a much higher degree than the code requires and so what I'm going to do is I'm going to explain how the codes work the standards work highlight where the code interacts with a particular standard specifically standard 208 x-ray 202 and there's a reason why I'll do that, but we're going to sort of go through the development process at the same time going from the 2012 code specifically the 2012 IEC through the 2018 IEC pointing out highlights of changes the reason being the reason being is 2009 code IEC there was no such thing as commissioning in fact when we're talking about testing and balancing in the 2009 IEC it said you had to provide the devices so that they could be balanced it never required that they be balanced from 2009, so the beginning point is that you should know what code you are under in the great state of Florida that's a spot that we're we're here today they're under the 2017 Florida code which is based upon the 27th 2015 is EC while the 2015 eye codes including the 2015 IEC see, but it is the Florida code it is not it is not the IE the IEC straight up because there are amendments to the code and so you have to know which code you're in you have to know the specific provisions that are applicable and then go from there, so there's which code which path may get to a particular code, and I'll explain that in a second which and and and which amendments are provided for a particular jurisdiction and by the way if you all can ask me what all the jurisdiction provisions are I don't know there's 50 states lots of cities and counties even other countries that use our codes, so we don't when I spend my time answering questions I don't address state or jurisdictional changes because there's too many and so all I'm going to be talking about are the unamended codes again we're...
