The power transformer is a device that converts bulk electrical power from one frequency to another. It uses an electromagnetic field to create a magnetic field in the metal coils, which stores electrical energy and then provides it back in the form of an electric field when the action button is turned on.
The coil number of the two groups of transformers is N1 and N2 respectively, N1 is the primary coil number, N2 is the secondary coil number. With an AC voltage on the primary coil, the induced electromotive force will be generated at both ends of the secondary coil.
EMF stands for electromotive force, which is the force that causes electrons to flow through a conductor. The equation of transformer emf is E = -d/dt(NΦ), where N is the number of turns in the primary coil, Φ is the magnetic flux, and E is the emf induced in the secondary coil.
This is known as the Transformer EMF Equation. For the primary winding emf, N will be the number of primary turns, ( NP ) and for the secondary winding emf, N will be the number of secondary turns, ( NS ).
Transformer Windings The winding diagram details the internal connections of the coils for both windings. This sketch shows the markings of the leads for the high and low voltage terminals as shown below (H1, H2, and H3 for the high voltage; X1, X2, X3, and X0 for the low voltage).
Page 2. This flux links with both the windings. Because of this, it produces self induced emf E1 in the primary winding while due to mutual induction i.e. due to flux produced by primary linking with secondary, it produces induced emf E2 in secondary winding.
E1 / E2 = N1 / N2 = I2 / I1 E1 is the primary voltage and I1 the primary current, E2 the secondary voltage and I2 the secondary current, N1 the primary turns and N2 the secondary turns. If voltage is stepped up, the current must be stepped down, and vice versa.
