Burn Permits are Required Permits are now available online from the Cal Fire Burn Permitting Application. Permits issued for locations within the Valley Air District's jurisdiction will include both Cal-Fire and District permit requirements. Permits are only available for locations within the State Responsibility Area.

The Florida Division of Forestry is responsible for issuing burn permits for large burns including agricultural, silvicultural and land clearing operations. For more information on the permitting process, call 352-395-4951. Small fires on a person's property that meet the guidelines do not require a burn permit.
Backyard burning is the burning of green waste material and requires both an APCD permit and a permit from CAL FIRE. Backyard burning is permitted only for occupants of one- and two-family dwellings located outside of Urban Reserve Line (URL) or Village Reserve Line (VRL) areas, and on a designated Permissive Burn Day.
