This fund provides financial assistance directly to the student co-operative education association to help pay for the cost of running the co-operative education programs. Second, it supports the co-operative education society and its employees who provide training to students working towards their bachelors and master level degrees. It provides assistance directly to students enrolled in the co-operative education programs to pay for the costs of training and to assist graduates in navigating the complex and exciting business world. Finally, it supports the co-operative education industry. By providing financial assistance, the fund helps the co-operative education societies attract more people to join them, thereby increasing the number of people working in co-operative education and encouraging greater co-operation. The University of Toronto Faculty of Law Co-operative Education Program The Co-operative Development Fund is located at the Law Faculty. The Fund's purpose is to support courses for students of the Law Faculty that will strengthen students' understanding of the law and its application, and improve their legal careers in both the public and private sectors. The Fund promotes research and development in the field of co-operative education that can lead to changes in the law and in practices that impact people's lives. In support of the Law Faculty's co-operative development program, faculty members provide courses and seminars, including the Co-operative Education Program for Law Students, and develop a network of contacts for students with co-operative education and industry contacts and partners in co-operative development. This will provide for better legal representation in the legal profession. Financial assistance is available, which allows students to cover part of the cost of the program. Law students are eligible for assistance up to the first 2,000 of expenses per year after that, on a sliding scale.
