If it wasn't, then Jeremiah would have purchased from an Arab, or if it was Jewish owned, Jeremiah wouldn't have asked for such a high price for the land. Why would Israel demand the land? For the same reason you do: For Israel's sake it s been stolen. In Leviticus 1:6 we learn that the land was to remain in Canaan until the land was bought from the Egyptians. In 2 Samuel 21:4 it says that David's descendants would always own the land. This was because a descendant of David owned the land: They are Israelites, descendants of Israel; all of them are to inherit the land of Canaan from their fathers. The land was to remain Jewish owned until a descendant could be found who could purchase the land, and the land would belong to her forever. In the case of Ana tot it s been reported that in 590 B.C. Benjamin of Judea was appointed to purchase it. In Numbers 16:28 the inhabitants were divided between Judah (Jews) and Benjamin of Judea (Hebrew “Israelites”). Benjamin bought the land to keep it in Jewish hands. He was, as a Jewish, appointed by God for the specific purpose of purchasing the land. Now you see, if Benjamin of Judea bought Ana tot, not only was it Jewish owned, but also owned by the Jewish tribe of Judah. This is not the case with Canaan. Once they were bought, they were sold and the land was divided. This is why I believe the Bible is in contradiction to itself and the fact that it gives the land to Israel. Why? Because if it wasn't Israel's land, Benjamin of Judea would have just purchased it and divided it among the Jews. No, the land and the people were to remain Jewish owned for eternity. If this didn't happen, then Benjamin I and II would have bought it, divided it among the Jewish people and kept it in Jewish hands. Benjamin I may have been the grandson and grandson of Saul, but he was not a descendant of David. The fact is Israel s ancestors were all the seed of Abraham. The Israelites claim on Canaan was not from God, but from men. I will go into more detail in later blog posts on this subject.
