The course will last three weeks, and will start on Monday 21 May and end on Monday 26 May. The cost of the course is €300 per student (or €150 for students of a secondary school); fees are inclusive of course materials and travel expenses to meet the participants. The course will be taught by Dr. Patrick O'Dwyer, who has been a Lecturer on human factors at CCS for over 30 years, and one of the principal investigators of the PCs project (which has been funded by NASA through NASA's Human Factors and Cognition in Space technology development phase). Please note that all applicants for Human Factors in Space research funding need to attend training at AER Linus, and to submit any additional documentation required in order to support the proposed study under the ESA's Human Factors and Cognition in Space research program. The students from this course will be eligible for the International Summer Travel grant to Ireland by NASA for 2012. The course will be held on the O'Connell campus at the University of Limerick and during the first week (Monday and Tuesday) the students will travel to Limerick Airport, then on to Ireland and back in four nights from Monday 24 – Wednesday 28 May. The final two day (Thursday to Saturday) will be on campus at the University. This course is part of the AER's Human Factors in Flight Safety (HFS) project. This is to enable international students to undertake training in this field at the world-class AER Linus. The program is a part of the PPP program offered by the National University of Ireland and the University of Limerick. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a research project which will be conducted at the Linus's Dublin facility. The students will also have the opportunity to visit Dublin and the University, and to visit two other facilities: Dublin Airport and a laboratory at CCS (the European College of Crop Production). Students must have a valid visa (for Ireland and the United Kingdom).
