Market Indexing: the market allows consumers to look up the current rate of electricity consumption from a centralized source (e.g. a weather station or utility). By doing so a user can easily find out if an excess amount of energy is being sold, and in what circumstances. 4. Averaging: an automated mechanism that allows for consumers to compare their own consumption data against that at similar locations (regulations do not mandate that energy producers and consumers always correspond) and find out if they are experiencing a shortfall of or oversupply of electricity.
