3. 1. Introduction The goal is to find a secure, reliable way to share software code. That means, to provide an environment that is both reliable and compatible with other software (see 1.2.). In the computer industry, this process is called code sharing. In the programming language realm, it is called code sharing and has been the focus of many researchers for years. Code sharing is not so much about software as it is about the entire environment: the hardware and software interfaces, the file and the memory management, user interfaces and all the other features that give an environment a certain characteristic. The “software” here is all code, source and binary. It does not matter which specific version of the software that is being shared, and it does not necessarily even matter if the software is written entirely in one language. The process is not restricted to Linux, although it has been traditionally used with Linux as a target.
