The type of the packaging material to be used shall be determined by the producer concerned, taking into account particular factors specific to the products to be packaged, including, in particular: (a) information available in the package, including the name of the product; (b) the production methods, production volume, process characteristics and methods used for the preparation or packaging of the product; (c) the packaging method, including the specific characteristics of the packaging materials or any additives thereto used; (d) the particular characteristics of the manufacturing process; (e) the characteristics of the intended uses of the product. 3. The use of new packaging materials shall be approved by the competent authorities. The package shall be certified by a third person authorized by the Member State concerned, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 2810/2005 (14). 4.
