Conference on Pediatric Chronic Diseases, Disability and Human Development, December 2-6, 2012 in Jerusalem. Our primary goal and objective is to continue to enhance the level of knowledge regarding the etiology, symptoms, clinical manifestations, and treatment of pediatric diseases. There will be numerous presenters from around the world that will discuss the latest research being done in the field, and also how the current knowledge applies to the clinic of clinical dermatologists. The conference theme is “Children Living with Chronic Illnesses.” From this theme, we have decided on topics to discuss within the conference including chronic and persistent pain, asthma and allergies, and childhood developmental disorders including autism, developmental delay, speech and language impairment, and intellectual disability. There will be many interesting presentations. Some of these topics will be based in the pediatric community and are not suitable for the public. Some presentations are aimed at clinicians and professionals, and there are some general areas of expertise for individuals living with these diseases. We invite you to attend. The following are two abstracts submitted by children who have a history of being diagnosed with ADHD and related conditions. The abstracts are provided as is without editorial comments. Please note that the abstracts have been presented at previous conferences. They may be useful for your research. Abstract: ADHD is often misdiagnosed in children and teens, resulting in suboptimal treatment. To the best of our knowledge, ADHD in children has not been previously described. We describe a 14-year-old boy who presented at 11 months of age with significant difficulties with attention in both verbal and nonverbal situations and mild to moderate hyperactivity. The child was diagnosed with ADHD at the time of presentation with a coexisting, clinically significant neurobehavioral disorder: developmental delay or autism spectrum disorder, and had recently completed a behavioral therapy intervention for ADHD and depression. He improved to a stage where he was compliant with the therapy, and remained compliant despite continuing medication throughout the course of treatment. Following the completion of drug cessation, the child's symptoms gradually abated, and his performance initially improved. Subsequently, however, the child had difficulty completing his school assignments and was uninterested in sports and other extracurricular activities. The therapist noted that he had a poor social history, and at times was aggressive, but did not perceive himself as being difficult to work with. He was on medication (amoxicillin, clopidogrel, and metronidazole) throughout the course of his course of treatment.
