Special Events permits cost $25 to process, and the fee cannot be waived (except when requesting an NYC Parks group volunteer project). We will do our best to give you what you request, but this money is not refundable. Also, we need 21-30 days to process a permit request, so make sure you plan ahead.

Special Recreation Permits are issued to businesses, organizations, and individuals to allow the use of specific public land and related waters for commercial, competitive, and organized group use. Special Recreation Permits allow the land stewards to coordinate and track commercial and competitive use of public lands.
You can apply for or renew the permit online through e-Permits or by mail. Access e-Permits. Call 311 or 212-NEW-YORK (212-639-9675) to request a copy.
The annual cost of each permit is $9. Temporary permits which are valid for two weeks are available to Residential Permit holders for $7 each. All fees are non-refundable. All delinquent parking citations must be paid before a permit is issued.
A park use permit is required regardless of event size. All permittees must follow all Parks and Recreation Department rules and regulations. Provide a copy of the Certificate of Liability with the endorsement page (example) with the City of San Diego named as an additional insured party.
