Prekindergarten programs serve children between the ages of 3 and 5 years and focus on preparing them for kindergarten. These programs are often open only during the school year and only during part of the day.

To be eligible for the state's Pre-K program, your child must be a resident of Georgia and at least 4 years of age on Sept. 1 of the school year.
Per Ga Pre-K guidelines, students that miss more than ten consecutive days without an excuse will result in disenrollment and the student's spot in the program will be given to the next person on the waiting list.
The standards have five domains of learning that are organized into strands, standards and age-appropriate indicators – physical development and motor skills; social and emotional development; approaches to play and learning; communication, language and literacy; and cognitive development and general knowledge.
To participate, children must be four years of age on or before September 1 of the school year that they want to attend Georgia's Pre-K. If a child turns four years old after September 1st, then the child would be required to wait until the following school year to attend Georgia's Pre-K.
