An optometrist licensed in Minnesota is required as a condition of licensure and license renewal to complete 40 hours of board -approved continuing optometric education every two years. The two-year cycle begins on January 1 and ends on December 31 of the second year.
Minimum hours required. The Board requires a minimum of 36 hours of attendance at Board-approved continuing education programs. Those licensed in the first year of the biennium will be required to obtain eighteen (18) hours of continuing education.
Eligibility: To apply for a Maryland optometry license, an applicant must be: A graduate of a college of optometry or university school of optometry endorsed by ARBO and accredited by the Council on Optometric Education of the American Optometric Association who passed Parts I, II and III of the NBEO.
A. As a prerequisite to renewal of a license or reinstatement of a license, each optometrist shall be required to complete 20 hours of continuing education relating to optometry, as approved by the Board, each year.
No state board or license requirements. ABO and/or NCLE Board Certified Opticians and/or Contact Lens Technicians must renew their certification every 3 years: ABO Certified: Must earn 12 CECs (of which at least 6 hours are ABO-approved Ophthalmic CECs)
TPA Certified optometrists are required to document 50 hours 30 of which must be therapeutic and have current CPR certification. DPA Certified optometrists are required to document 36 hours 6 of which must be diagnostic and have current CPR certification. Non-Certified optometrists are required to document 36 hours.
Optometrists must complete a minimum of 50 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years in order to renew their license. This includes the Jurisprudence Exam which will account for three hours of CE. This exam must be taken within the first two years of licensure.
General Requirements and Information: 24 hours every 2 years - for those who have held a license for 25 consecutive years, 8 hours (including 3 ethics). individuals who have continually held a license for 25 years or are 70 and older may apply for a waiver.
