Learn About Membership. How do I know If I am a member? Our EOP members usually receive our email invitation to spring insight upon admission to UCSB. If you are a continuing student and are unsure, stop by or call our office and we can help you find out (805) 893-4758.
Am I Eligible to Apply to EOP? You are a California resident or AB540 student. Your family has a history of low income based on the Cal State Apply Guidelines. You are the first in your family to attend college. You are a first-time freshman.
Who May Apply? Low-income, disadvantaged students who need admission assistance and support services to succeed in college are admitted to EOP. They must demonstrate academic potential and motivation to succeed, be California residents, and meet the income criteria below.
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides assistance through mentorship, academic programs, financial assistance, counseling/advising, and other campus support services to those who are first-generation college students, and/or from low-income and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.
EOP provides education access and opportunity for low-income and educationally disadvantaged students from California, the majority of whom are first-generation college students.
EOP is available to graduating high school seniors and upper-division undergraduate college transfer students with 60 or more transferable units. You are eligible for EOP if: You are a California resident or qualify for AB 540/2000 nonresident tuition exemption. Neither parent has received a four-year college degree.
EOP students are conditionally admitted and required to participate in a four-week intensive summer program that is designed to assist students with the adjustment to college and provide a foundation for academic success.
Joining EOP is an option for all students at UCSB. We have two categories of membership, one is a regular member (those admitted during admission to UCSB) and Associate membership.
