How to fill out automated external defibrillator (AED):

01
Power on the AED: Locate the power button on the defibrillator device and turn it on. Ensure that the device is plugged in or has sufficient battery power.
02
Prepare the patient: Ensure the patient is lying on a flat surface and remove any clothing or obstacles from their chest area. Ensure there are no puddles or water nearby.
03
Attach the electrode pads: Open the AED's electrode pad packaging and remove the sticky pads. Place one pad on the upper right side of the patient's chest, just below the collarbone, and the other pad on the lower left side of the patient's chest, slightly below the armpit. Follow the diagrams on the AED for correct placement.
04
Connect the pads to the AED: Attach the connector cables to the electrode pads. Ensure they are securely connected.
05
Analyze the patient's heart rhythm: Place the AED in analyzing mode, and it will start assessing the patient's heart rhythm. Ensure that no one is touching the patient while the AED is analyzing.
06
Follow the AED prompts: Once the AED has analyzed the patient's heart rhythm, it will provide voice or visual prompts on what actions to take. These prompts will instruct you to either administer a shock or perform CPR.
07
Administer a shock if advised: If the AED prompts you to administer a shock, ensure that no one is touching the patient and press the shock button. Some AEDs may administer the shock automatically without a button.
08
Perform CPR as necessary: If the AED advises performing CPR, follow the appropriate CPR guidelines. Administer chest compressions and rescue breaths as needed, alternating with the AED prompts.

01
Individuals with known heart conditions: People who have previously experienced heart problems, such as cardiac arrests or arrhythmias, may need an AED for emergency resuscitation.

Public places and facilities: AEDs are commonly found in public places such as airports, shopping malls, schools, gyms, and sports arenas to ensure rapid response to sudden cardiac arrest incidents.
03
First responders and healthcare professionals: Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and healthcare professionals should be trained in using AEDs as part of their emergency response protocols.
04
Workplaces: Certain occupations, particularly those involving physical exertion or working in remote locations, may require AEDs to be readily available for employee safety.
