Letters must be written in English and come from faculty members or other individuals well acquainted with your academic work.
Usually, the way to submit a recommendation letter is through the Common Application (or the UC application, or whatever application system the college uses). Your teachers will need to submit the letter, not you, to ensure its validity. They will receive an email with a link where they can upload the letter.
In the MyERAS® application, applicants generate a Letter Request Form (LRF) for each LoR they are requesting, and they provide the relevant author with the form. Authors and/or their designees use the unique Letter ID on each form to upload LoRs for applicants.
An LOR that is too short (around 200-300 words) can give the impression that your recommender doesn't have much to say about you. On the other hand, a lengthy LOR (over 600 words) may feel more like an SOP and lose the reader's interest. The sweet spot is an LOR between 375-475 words.
All documents will take up to five (5) business days to process to ERAS from the date they are uploaded through EFDO Online Services, MIDUS, or the AAMC's Letter of Recommendation Portal (LoRP). IMPORTANT NOTE: The EFDO is not permitted to provide copies of documents to applicants or any third parties.
