All in all, Madeline Miller's Circe is a novel that's definitely worth reading.
Overall, the author's writing is sophisticated and well-crafted but easy to follow. “Great Circle” is long — 589 pages — but the pacing works most of the time. The depth of the characters and engaging storyline make it worth the long read.
Although these are serious themes, the novel is actually quite a light read with a fast-paced, gripping and amusing plot. It is not literary fiction, but readers will enjoy nods to other works, as highlighted in the New York Review of Books review published last year.
