People Also Ask about

1 Why 70/100 Is Satisfactory? Formulation of the problem. In the standard US teaching arrangement, about 70 points out of 100 means a satisfactory grade – less than that is failing.
S/U is an alternate grading option from the standard letter grade you usually receive. Opting into SU for a course means your transcript will show a U, an S, or an S+ instead of the letter (A, B, C, D, F) that you earned.
S/U grading will not affect the student's GPA.
A grade of U (unsatisfactory) shall be equivalent to grades D+, D, D-, or F. Grades of S or U have no grade point equivalent and shall not be included in the GPA computation. The credit of courses in which an S grade is obtained shall be counted towards graduation. Credits are not awarded for U grades.
If a course has a grade mode of Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory no one in the class gets a standard letter grade; everyone earns an S or U. When you elect to take an otherwise graded class pass/fail, the professor still assigns you a grade from A-F but the Registrar's system converts it to pass or fail.
A Satisfactory “S” grade under the S/U option indicates achievement in the range of “A,” “B,” “C,” or “D.” An Unsatisfactory “U” grade under the S/U option is equivalent to failure in the course and has no earned credits.
A+, A, A- indicates excellent performance. B+, B, B- indicates good performance. C+, C, C- indicates satisfactory performance. D+, D, D- indicates less than satisfactory performance.
Colleges determine the courses available for S/U grading. If you select this grading option for a course, you'll receive an S and course credit if you earn a C or higher. If your grade is a C- or lower, you'll receive a U and no course credit.
