Take a deep breath and then place the mouthpiece of the peak flow meter in your mouth, sealing your lips tightly around it.

Stand up straight and exhale as forcefully and quickly as you can into the meter.

Record the reading on the meter by sliding the marker to the highest point reached by the indicator.

Repeat the process two more times, waiting for a few moments between each attempt.

Take note of the highest reading out of the three attempts as your peak flow measurement.
