How to fill out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)?

01
Check the situation: Before starting CPR, assess the situation to ensure that it is safe for you and the victim. Look for any potential dangers or hazards.
02
Activate emergency services: If the victim is unresponsive and not breathing normally, call for emergency medical help immediately. Every second counts in a cardiac arrest situation.
03
Position the victim: Gently lay the victim flat on their back on a firm surface. Make sure their airway is clear and their head is tilted back slightly to help open the airway.
04
Check for breathing: Place your ear close to the victim's mouth and nose and look for chest movement. Listen for any sounds of breathing. If the victim is not breathing or only gasping for air, proceed to the next step.
05
Perform chest compressions: Place the heel of one hand on the center of the victim's chest, slightly above the lower half of their breastbone. Interlock your fingers and keep your arms straight. Begin pressing down hard and fast, aiming for a compression depth of at least 2 inches. Perform chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute.
06
Provide rescue breaths: After 30 compressions, quickly open the victim's airway by tilting their head back and lifting their chin. Pinch their nose shut and give two rescue breaths, watching for the rise and fall of their chest with each breath. Each breath should be delivered over about 1 second and make sure the chest rises visibly.
07
Continue CPR cycles: Continue with cycles of 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths until the emergency medical help arrives or until the victim begins to show signs of life.

Who needs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)?

01
Anyone who experiences a sudden cardiac arrest: CPR is crucial for individuals who experience a sudden loss of consciousness, unresponsiveness, and lack of normal breathing. This can happen to people of all ages and with various underlying conditions.
02
Individuals who suffer from heart-related emergencies: CPR may also be needed for individuals who experience heart attacks, choking incidents, or drowning. By providing immediate CPR, you can increase their chances of survival before medical professionals arrive.
Remember, CPR is a valuable life-saving skill that everyone should learn. It empowers individuals to take action and potentially save lives in emergency situations.
