The Torch Awards honor excellence and recognize employees who, in their contributions and service to the District, exemplify our Educator Essentials. These employees make us proud. They go above and beyond. They elevate their profession. They deliver results that matter.
The Torch Awards, presented by MovementForward, Inc. ( MFI), recognize influential public figures who carry forward the torch of servant leadership and the spirit of service and nonviolent social change that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his cohorts embodied.
The Torch Awards recognize students who best exemplify the qualities of service, engagement, academics and leadership. This includes community service involvement, campus club or organizational participation, outstanding achievement and campus or community leadership.
Ambassador Torch Award: Given at the national level, the Ambassador Torch Award requires 70 points in each Torch Category. An Ambassador is defined as "a diplomatic official of the highest rank appointed and accredited as representative of the organization."
Applicants must meet the following criteria: minimum of three (3) years in business and maintain a rating of B or higher with BBB. BBB Accreditation is NOT a requirement. Business Size Categories: Entries are categorized by the number of employees: 1-10, 11-20, 21-40, 41-60, 61-99 and 100+.
Students complete activities in the seven Torch categories: Leadership; Service; Cooperation; Knowledge; Friendship; Love, Hope, Faith; and Citizenship - then log their activities in an online Torch Résumé.
The Torch-Bearer Award was created to recognize and honor those people who have inspired their nations, their cities, and their communities through their own lives and deeds.
