Welcome to the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles. DC DMV provides a multitude of services to District residents. This video provides an overview of DC DMV's Driver Record. Current and previous DC residents may request a copy of their three year, five year, ten year, or full history driver record. A non-certified copy can be obtained online, while a certified copy must be requested by mail or in-person. There is a fee to obtain a DC driver record. Once you receive your driver record, it's important that you understand the information it contains. While reviewing it, check your personal information. Make sure your name, address, date of birth, and driver license or identification card number are correct. License or ID Details is the first section of your driver record. It contains information about your driver license or identification card. The status of your credential is in this section as well as the original issue date, which is the date that DC DMV issued you, your first license or ID card. The reissue date states the last time your credential was renewed, and the expiration date is the last date that the credential is valid. If you have a CDL, then your driver license may be disqualified. The citation or violation description will be displayed, followed by the citation or violation number. The withdrawal start date is the day the suspension, revocation, or disqualification begins. The withdrawal end date is the date the mandatory suspension or revocation period ends. If INDEX is listed, then the withdrawal does not have a mandatory suspension, revocation, or disqualification period. Once the ticket and the reinstatement fee are paid, your license is reinstated immediately. Withdrawal status is the current status of the withdrawal, such as suspended, revoked, cleared, or restored. The clearance date is the date the withdrawal was restored and your license was reinstated. If the driver record contains convictions or violations, then it is the next section of the driver record. Convictions and violations are displayed with the most recent event listed first. The citation date is the date the citation was issued. The disposition date represents the date you paid the citation or were deemed liable for the citation or violation. The citation or violation number is followed by the two letter abbreviation for the...
