How to fill out intravenous fluid and medication:

01
Gather all the necessary equipment and supplies such as intravenous (IV) fluid bag, IV tubing, medication vials or ampoules, alcohol swabs, gloves, and a sterile needle or cannula.
02
Wash your hands thoroughly and put on a pair of sterile gloves to prevent contamination.
03
Inspect the IV fluid bag for any leaks, discoloration, or damage. Ensure that the fluid is not expired.
04
Remove the protective cap from the spike end of the IV tubing and insert it into the designated port on the IV fluid bag. Make sure it is secure.
05
Squeeze the drip chamber of the IV tubing to fill it halfway with IV fluid.
06
Open the clamp on the IV tubing and let the fluid flow until there are no air bubbles remaining in the tubing. Close the clamp to stop the flow temporarily.
07
Take the prescribed medication and clean the vial or ampoule with an alcohol swab.
08
Use a sterile needle or cannula to draw up the required amount of medication from the vial or ampoule. Follow proper technique and avoid contaminating the needle or medication.
09
Insert the needle or cannula into the designated port on the IV tubing, making sure it is securely attached.
10
Open the clamp on the IV tubing and allow the medication to slowly infuse into the IV fluid. Monitor the flow rate and adjust it accordingly, if necessary.
11
Once the medication has finished infusing, close the clamp on the IV tubing and disconnect the needle or cannula from the port.
12
Double-check all the connections and ensure that the IV tubing is securely attached to the IV fluid bag.
13
Hang the IV fluid bag on a designated IV pole at the prescribed height. Make sure it is easily visible and accessible.
