Two routes to earning a Wood Badge One route is for volunteers focussed on delivering programmes for young people. The other route is for those who focus on supporting and leading volunteers.
Wood Badge is open to all adult leaders in Cubs, Scouts BSA, Varsity and Venturing, as well as District and Council leaders. Each adult leader must be "registered" with the BSA and have completed basic training for their position. A current BSA Physical Examination Form is required.

By attending Wood Badge, you will internalize the five themes of Wood Badge: Living the Values, Growing, Connecting, Guiding, and Empowering.
Do the following: (a) Describe how timber is grown, harvested, and milled. Tell how lumber is cured, seasoned, graded, and sized. (b) Collect and label blocks of six kinds of wood useful in woodworking. Describe the chief qualities of each. Give the best uses of each.
Courses generally have theory and practical phases followed by a practice project. Scouters who complete the course are awarded a pair of wood beads on each end of a leather thong, from a necklace of beads Robert Baden-Powell claimed to have taken from the African chief Dinizulu.
Over 2 weekends (5 days) you will learn and experience the themes of Wood Badge: Connecting, Guiding, Empowering, Growing, and Living the Values.
