Suite 100 Concord, New Hampshire 03301;; New Hampshire is a New Hampshire Educational Service Office that has been awarded a grant of 50,000 from the Department of Education, Office of Vocational, Educational and Child Development Services through its Minority Youth Employment Initiative, for the purpose of creating a school-based program that addresses the needs of at-risk youth and young children with a dual diagnosis of ADHD and other learning disabilities, which are defined in section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The proposed program provides at-risk children and their families, with the support of behavioral professionals and other school staff, with the opportunity to learn at school in groups. The program would be designed to facilitate the integration of individuals with varying learning and behavior needs into a cohesive and effective learning community with an emphasis on learning the values, goals and skills for success. The program will seek to provide education that emphasizes the developmental changes that occur as individuals adjust and mature in learning environments, as well as the positive social interactions, values and skills that result. Educational services would be provided individually and in groups, and would be provided to a variety of age groups, including, but not limited to, infants, children, teens, young adults and young families. The principal areas of attention addressed would be verbal skills and social interactions in both the group and individual contexts, as well as the need for the individualized intervention to develop the individualized educational plan for each individual.
