Customs Declaration is one of the most important documents upon entry to the USA. Every traveler or a responsible family member has to fill out this form in order to cross the American border. One declaration per family is enough.
What is Customs Declaration for?
U.S. Customs Declaration or CBP form 6059b is used by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service to obtain general information about arriving visitors.
Is the Customs Declaration accompanied by other forms?
Your declaration must contain your passport number, the country of issue and the airline/flight number or the vessel name. In order to complete the form you should have your passport and your plane ticket.
When is Customs Declaration due?
It is filed immediately upon entry to the United States.
How do I fill out a Customs Declaration?
Start with writing your name, birthdate and number of family members traveling with you. Add the address of your hotel or any other place of destination in the United States. Put down the passport number and the country it was issued by. Then write your country of residence and count all the countries you visited prior to the USA. Give some specifics about your flight and check in the box below what items you are bringing. Don’t forget to mention if you have handled or touched livestock recently or if you are carrying any articles or samples for sale. If you are a resident, count the approximate total value of the goods you’ve bought abroad. Visitors must figure out a total value of the items that will remain in the United States. On the second page make a list of all the items you need to declare. Use another form CBP 6059b if you need an extra sheet.
Where do I send?
Give the declaration to the customs officer at the immigration stand at the port of arrival.
