How to fill out paper piecing

How to fill out paper piecing:
01
Gather your supplies: You will need a printed or traced paper piecing pattern, your fabric pieces, a cutting mat, a rotary cutter, a ruler, pins or clips, and a sewing machine.
02
Start by cutting out your fabric: Place the pattern onto the wrong side of the fabric, making sure to align it properly. Pin or clip the pattern to the fabric to hold it in place. Using your ruler and rotary cutter, carefully cut around the pattern, leaving a ¼ inch seam allowance.
03
Prepare your paper piecing pattern: If your pattern requires multiple pieces or blocks, label and organize them accordingly. Trim the excess paper around each section, leaving a ¼ inch seam allowance.
04
Begin piecing: Take your first fabric piece and place it on the backside of the paper pattern, aligning it with the wrong side of the fabric and the numbered or marked section of the pattern. Hold it in place with a pin or clip.
05
Sew along the marked lines: With your sewing machine, stitch along the marked lines on the paper pattern, using a shorter stitch length (around 1.5-2 mm) for easier paper removal later. Start stitching a few stitches before the line and continue a few stitches beyond it. Remember to backstitch at the beginning and end of each line.
06
Trim the seam allowance: Carefully fold the paper pattern along the stitched line and trim the excess fabric to a ¼ inch seam allowance. This will help reduce bulk and provide accurate alignment for the next fabric piece.
07
Add the next fabric piece: Take your next fabric piece and align it with the trimmed seam allowance of the first piece, right sides together. Hold it in place with a pin or clip, making sure it fully covers the section it belongs to. Sew along the next marked line, as before.
08
Continue the process: Repeat steps 6 and 7 until all the sections of your paper piecing pattern are covered with fabric. Trim seam allowances, fold the paper pattern, and add the next piece according to the numbers or markings until completion.
09
Press the finished paper piecing: Once all sections are covered, remove any pins or clips and press the entire paper piecing block. This will set the stitches and create a crisp and smooth finished piece.
