Hi and welcome to this tutorial here I'm going to be showing you how to remove the grid lines the formula bar and the headings from your Excel workbook it's going to make things look a lot cleaner and if you'd like to get this workbook and everything you see here go to teach excel com search for the video tutorial download it there so what I've got here is a sample sales report I have four employees, and I've got four years of sales data, so I really don't need all of these grid lines because to be quite honest it looks a little too much like Microsoft Excel and I don't want those grid lines around its kind of annoying me so what do I do well I've already got borders for my employees you know to make it so that I can tell that sales year for is for this person, so I don't need other grid lines how do you do that well the easiest way go to the View tab so up here select the View tab go to the show/hide box well in the show/hide box you've got three little boxes to check grid lines formula bar and headings, so it's really as simple as that to get rid of your grid lines they're gone this rid of the headings they're gone the headings obviously being the column headings ABC and the row headings 1 2 3 etc and lastly let's kill the formula bar goodbye so there you go check out looking look how much nicer just looks and this is with a simple bland colorless sales report so if you're doing something much more important you got two graphs its etcetera on there, and you don't need all those grid lines to tell you what goes where well that's how you can take off the grid lines View tab show/hide box kill the grid lines than you can also get rid of the headings and the formula bar there the last thing if the ribbon is kind of annoying you because you've taken care of everything else go ahead and right-click the ribbon and select minimize the ribbon so now all we've got is a nice neat sales report with nothing else to get in the way to get everything back just as simple as right-clicking the ribbon click minimize ribbon select grid lines headings and formula bar, and it looks just as cluttered as it did before, so that's how you can clean up the spreadsheet and that's how you can get everything back and that's it for this formatting tip
