To be eligible for this program, you must: be 65 years of age, or older (only one spouse/partner needs to be at least 65) be an Alberta resident, having lived in the province for at least 3 months.
Under the provincial funding model, all education property taxes, including property taxes received by separate school boards, are pooled by Alberta Education through the Alberta School Foundation Fund (ASFF) and distributed to public and separate school boards on an equal per-student basis.

Direction of school support (or school support designation) refers to choosing a school board to support that best reflects your educational preferences. In Ontario, all property owners are required to support a school board, even if they do not have children or their children are not currently attending school.
By provincial law, money collected through the education property tax can only be used to fund the public education system, which includes public and separate schools. Private school funding comes from three sources: provincial general revenues, tuition or instruction fees paid by parents, and private fundraising.
Parents and guardians can be charged for truancy if they do not send their child/children to school or if they refuse to let them attend. If you are 12 years of age or older, and do not attend school regularly, you can be charged for your own truancy.
