Tennessee Promise students are required to complete eight (8) hours of community service per term enrolled and maintain a 2.0 GPA. You should enroll in and complete at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester to remain eligible for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship.

Applicants must complete the Tennessee Promise application by November 3, complete the FAFSA by April 1, attend a mandatory meeting, and complete 16 hours of community service each year to be eligible for the award.

Community service is not a high school graduation requirement. TN Scholars does require 80 hours during your 4 years of high school. TN Promise requires students to complete 8 hours prior to every semester they receive Promise. The HOPE scholarship does not require community service.
In addition, Tennessee Promise participants must complete eight hours of community service per term enrolled, as well as maintain satisfactory academic progress (2.0 GPA) at their institution.
