However, having said that, there are states where you do need that number regardless of how much hazardous waste you generate.
A CESGQ with less than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of hazardous waste may store the waste indefinitely. Once you accumulate 100 kg., you may store it up to 90 days. After 90 days, you must send your waste to a licensed recycling or disposal facility (California Health and Safety Code, Section 25123.3).
Small quantity generators (SQGs) generate more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds), but less than 1,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds), of hazardous waste during a calendar month, and never accumulate on-site at any time more than 6,000 kilograms (13,227 pounds, or 6.61 tons) of hazardous waste.
Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQGs) generate 100 kilograms or less per month of hazardous waste or one kilogram or less per month of acutely hazardous waste.
