Summer Travel (June–August) Summer is the most popular time to travel on the Rocky Mountaineer, and for good reason. The days are long and filled with light, providing extended hours for scenic viewing. The mountains are at their greenest and most vibrant, and the wildflowers in the alpine meadows are in full bloom.
And the food, comfort, views and service are second to none. Whether or not it's 'worth it' depends on your budget and how much value you put in luxury over price. You also have to remember that the Rocky Mountaineer trip is not just a way of getting from A to B, it's a travel experience in its own right.
On trains, you are free to tip your server in the dining car and the individual responsible for your room or berth in the sleeper car. Do remember, however, that the crew will change several times on long journeys.
