How to fill out cold process soap making?

01
Gather all the necessary ingredients and tools, including oils, lye, water, fragrance or essential oils, colorants, a digital scale, thermometers, safety equipment (goggles, gloves), a stick blender, and soap molds.
02
Set up a clean and well-ventilated workspace, making sure to protect the surfaces with newspaper or plastic.
03
Put on the necessary safety equipment, including goggles and gloves, to protect yourself from any potential accidents.
04
Weigh out the oils and fats according to your recipe and melt them down in a double boiler or microwave until they are completely liquid.
05
In a separate container, measure out the correct amount of water and slowly add the lye while stirring continuously. Be cautious while handling lye, as it is highly caustic and can cause burns.
06
Allow both the lye-water solution and the melted oils to cool down to around 100-110°F (38-43°C) before proceeding.
07
Once both the lye-water solution and oils are at the correct temperature, carefully pour the lye-water solution into the oils and gently stir with a stick blender until the mixture reaches a light trace. Trace refers to the point when the mixture thickens and leaves a visible trail when drizzled over the surface.
08
Optional: Add fragrance or essential oils, colorants, or any other desired additives to the soap mixture and blend until fully incorporated.
09
Pour the soap mixture into soap molds, tapping the molds gently on a countertop to release any trapped air bubbles.
10
Cover the molds with a piece of cardboard or a towel and allow the soap to stay undisturbed in a cool, dry place for 24-48 hours to complete the saponification process.
11
After the soap has hardened, remove it from the molds and cut it into desired shapes. Place the cut soap bars on a drying rack or tray, ensuring good air circulation around them.
12
Allow the soap to cure for at least 4-6 weeks, turning the bars occasionally to ensure even drying and hardening. This curing time will allow excess moisture to evaporate, resulting in a harder and longer-lasting soap.
