How to fill out ceramic tiles

Illustration

How to fill out ceramic tiles:

01
Start by preparing the surface: Ensure that the surface where the ceramic tiles will be installed is clean, dry, and level. Remove any old tiles, paint, or debris. If necessary, use a leveler to even out any uneven areas.
02
Plan the layout: Before applying adhesive, plan the layout of the tiles to ensure a balanced and aesthetically pleasing arrangement. Measure and mark the center of the room or wall and use this as a starting point.
03
Apply the adhesive: Use a notched trowel to spread the appropriate type of adhesive on the surface. Apply it in small sections to prevent the adhesive from drying out before the tiles can be placed.
04
Place the tiles: Carefully press each ceramic tile onto the adhesive, making sure it is aligned with your layout plan. Use tile spacers to create even gaps between the tiles for grouting.
05
Cut and trim tiles: Depending on your layout, you may need to cut or trim some tiles to fit along the edges or around obstacles. Use a tile cutter or a wet saw to make precise cuts.
06
Allow the adhesive to dry: Give the adhesive enough time to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions before proceeding to the next step. This typically takes around 24-48 hours.
07
Grout the tiles: Mix the grout according to the manufacturer's instructions and use a grout float to apply it over the tiles. Spread the grout diagonally across the tile joints, ensuring all gaps are filled. Remove excess grout with a damp sponge.
08
Clean and seal: After the grout has cured for a few days, clean the tiles with a grout haze remover or a mild cleanser. Once clean and dry, apply a tile sealer to protect the tiles and grout from stains and discoloration.
