Illustration

How to fill out stroke technique:

01
Start by positioning yourself correctly in the water. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and your arms relaxed at your sides.
02
Begin the stroke by extending one arm forward and entering the water at a slight angle with your fingertips first. This entry should be smooth and gentle to minimize resistance.
03
As your hand enters the water, keep your arm extended and follow through with a slight downward motion to create a good catch.
04
While your hand is in the water, begin the pull phase by using your forearm and hand to push against the water and propel your body forward. Focus on maintaining a strong and steady pull throughout this phase.
05
As your pulling hand reaches your hip, start the recovery phase by lifting your elbow out of the water while keeping your forearm parallel to the surface. This movement should be relaxed and controlled.
06
Once your hand clears the water, bend your elbow and bring your forearm back towards the starting position. Keep your hand close to the surface as you recover to minimize drag.
07
As your recovering arm reaches the starting position, begin the stroke on the opposite side by repeating steps 2-6 with your other arm.
